GRAPEVINE, alias Goya van der Heijden, found me through common contacts with an interest in working together and nothing more specific. It was a nice reversal of the usual, which is me hunting through networks for people to make things with me. We became good friends before we managed to make anything together, but eventually we began jamming. Goya had a really cool studio set up in her antikraak primary school classroom and lots of in-progress tracks that were interspersed with field recordings that I really liked. I ended up producing two tracks, Holdfast and Bloodless, and mastering them for Goya. In the bleak pandemic year, this was one of the projects I still managed to muster the creative energy for.
